This article examines the history of YPM 1831, a Torosaurus found by J.B. Hatcher over 130 years ago, and how the MOR was able to histologically sample this remarkable specimen. Not only had this process been an exceptional collaboration between the MOR and Yale Peabody Museum, but the data collected from this specimen contributes to an ongoing investigation of the relationship between animal maturity and external anatomy, to determine the validity of Torosaurus with the hypothesis that YPM 1831 is actually an adult Triceratops.
